What This Work Is About

At Be The Change, the work is really very simple in principle but deep in practice.

It's about  3 things
reconnection —
with yourself,
with others,
and with what matters.

Itk isn't about fixing, pushing, or performing

It's about understanding what's actually going on inside, finding some steadiness in it, and rebuilding connection where it's been lost.

It's not therapy in the traditional sense.
It isn't coaching built on pressure or performance.
It's a steady, human collaboration — as we explore ways you return to what's already there beneath the noise, the pressure, and the conditioning we've all been carrying.

Connection changes everything.

How the Work Is Held
The work is shaped by two things:
Decades of experience in environments where surface-level answers don't hold up — and the frameworks, both modern and much older, that actually do.

Rather than focusing only on the behaviour or the symptom, we seek to delve deeper at the level underneath.

That looks like helping men to:

  • understand what's actually going on inside them
  • notice their patterns — emotional, physical, relational — that keep repeating
  • steady themselves when things get overwhelming
  • reconnect with what they value and what they're responsible for
  • build relationships that feel real, not performed

Real change doesn't come from pressure.
It comes from insight, safety, and connection — built slowly, and integrated back into real life.
HOW WE ACTUALLY WORK — THE CAVEMEN
A big part of this work uses something we call
"The Cavemen" — plain, human language for the protective patterns that show up when things get heavy.

Instead of clinical labels, blame or shame, we talk about which Caveman tends to show up for you.

Maybe it's the one that goes quiet and disappears when things get tense.
Maybe it's the one that gets sharp and defensive the second he feels exposed.
Maybe it's the one that just throws himself into work so he never has to sit still with anything.

None of them are flaws.
They're old strategies that made sense once — that often we are not ven aware of, whether they're helping or not!

Once you can actually see which ones are running the show in a given moment, you've got a choice you didn't have before.
Once we can have that space and understanding we already halfway there to change.

Underneath the metaphor, this work draws on solid, evidence-based approaches — just translated into language that doesn't sound like a clinical file.
The aim throughout is the same: strengthen your connection to yourself, to others, and to what actually matters to you — your purpose.

It may sound likely hippy fluff but the greatest form of connection is Love.
If you can truly love yourself, those arround you and what you are doing your life tends to feel rather complete.
THE WAYS THIS WORK IS OFFERED
The same principles run through all three. What changes is the container.
One-to-One Mentoring

Sometimes the most useful thing in the world is someone sitting across from you who isn't your partner, your mate, or your boss — someone with no agenda except helping you work out what's actually going on.

That's what this is. One person, in your corner, over as long as it takes to shift what needs shifting.

Weekly, fortnightly, monthly — whatever pace fits your life.
In person around Mandurah, or online from anywhere.
No script.
No program.
Just the two of us, and the space to think things through properly for maybe the first time in years
RETREATS

Blokes rarely give themselves permission to stop.
A Retreat give you the permission — and the setting — to do it properly.

Time away, outside, phones off, in the kind of natural place that quiets the noise you've been carrying without realising it.

You'll spend it with other men doing the same thing. Some talking, some walking, some sitting quietly. Some emotions yes, but all contained.

All of it doing more than you'd expect.

Come back a bit different.
Not fixed. Not reinvented.

Just clearer.
The Fireside:
Monthly Community Gathering

The friendships most blokes made at school or in their twenties often didn't build in the depth to hold real life — the kind where you can say the hard thing without the whole dynamic shifting. Fireside is where that gets built. It's a regular meet-up of men choosing to actually know each other. Some months you'll talk about the deep stuff. Other months you'll help someone move a fridge, or split firewood, or just have a beer. Both matter equally. That's the point.
STILL HERE, STILL READING
If you've made it this far, something's landed.

But here's what usually happens next: the browser tab stays open.
You mean to come back to it.
Life takes over. A week goes by. A month. A year.
And nothing changes — not because you didn't want it to, but because "later" is always easier than "now."

This is the gap most blokes get stuck in. Between knowing something needs to shift, and actually reaching out.
I get it.
Making the first move can feel like a bigger deal than it needs to be. So let's make it smaller.
You don't have to book anything.
You don't have to commit to anything.
You don't even have to have the right words for what's going on.
Just send a message.
One line is enough.
We'll take it from there — and I'll come back to you the same way, honest and no pressure.
That's the first step.
Everything else follows from there.
